10Beauty buys Nimble to lead the robotic manicure market
What's the deal? 10Beauty has acquired Nimble, a rival robotics venture in nail care, folding in its technology and much of its executive leadership. The deal value was undisclosed. Nimble adds 47 granted patents and a customer base built on more than 6,000 manicure machines and 60,000 polish capsules shipped since launch.
Why now? The Boston-based company is moving from development to deployment, rolling out its first machines to the public. Nimble's leaders — including chief technology officer Ron Miller, who oversaw the product for nine years — have already shipped thousands of devices worldwide.
The product: 10Beauty builds the first full-service robotic manicure, combining computer vision, precision robotics, and a single-use pod system. It positions the service as a consistent, hygienic alternative to gels that is gentler on the nail and easier to remove.

Two more enterprise partners in the hotel and gym space are set to be announced.
The acquisition is 10Beauty's second consolidation play in under two years, following its purchase of automated nail-painting company Clockwork. Founded in 2019, the company has raised more than $70 million, including a $23.5 million round led by Story VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. What could go wrong? The patents and talent build capacity, but demand is not yet proven. The real test is whether 10Beauty can install and operate the machines reliably and make the service commercially attractive to retailers and salons.
The signal: 10Beauty is buying up the small field of nail-care robotics to consolidate technology and operating talent ahead of wider rollout. "We are thrilled to be bringing the Nimble leadership onto the team to support this critical next phase of our journey," says co-CEO Alex Shashou. Whether intelligent beauty becomes a category or stays a novelty hinges on what happens once the machines reach customers.
