InTandem backs AI patient-affordability platform Atlas Health in growth deal

What's the deal? Healthcare-focused private equity firm InTandem Capital PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has completed a growth investment in Atlas Health, an AI-powered patient-affordability platform. Terms were not disclosed. The management team will continue to lead the company and remain significant shareholders.

What does Atlas do? Founded in 2017, Atlas partners with hospitals and health systems to match and enroll patients in affordability programs that increase coverage and reimbursement. Its agentic AI, Ava, screens patients against thousands of funding sources — including manufacturer copay programs, foundation grants, and charity care.

Why now? "Regulatory reform and employer healthcare cost escalation are impacting coverage for millions while specialty drug costs continue their unrelenting rise," said Brad Coppens, president and managing partner at InTandem. He described helping patients navigate care costs as shifting "from a back-office afterthought to a critical front-line revenue recovery tool."

What's the endgame? Atlas plans to accelerate product work and expand its reach to health systems and patients. Founder and chief executive officer Ethan Davidoff said the aim is "making financial clearance as automatic as an insurance check in every health system in the country," while extending the platform to specialty pharmacies.

J.P. Morgan advised Atlas, with CooleyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → as legal counsel. Greenberg TraurigDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → advised InTandem.

The signal: The deal lands amid rising investor interest in healthcare technology that eases affordability and shores up provider finances. In October, Francisco PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → closed its roughly $650 million acquisition of patient-engagement and payments platform Weave, and Cedar launched an AI platform with financial-assistance workflows. Atlas's focus on connecting patients to assistance programs is distinct from payments and collections tools, but serves the same push to improve affordability.
