Shoptet buys Czech AI startup Jarabot in first deal since team.blue takeover

What's the deal? Shoptet has acquired JarabotDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Czech startup that builds AI tools for e-commerce customer service. The price was undisclosed, though CzechCrunch estimated it in the tens of millions of crowns. International law firm Bird & BirdDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → advised Shoptet on the transaction.

What each company does: Shoptet runs an e-commerce platform used by more than 45,000 e-shops across Czechia and Slovakia. Jarabot, founded in 2025, builds chatbots, voicebots, and email bots that automate customer interactions across multiple channels and claims to handle up to 75% of queries without a human.

Why now? This is Shoptet's first acquisition since Belgian group team.blue bought it in 2025 for a sum reported to be in the billions of crowns. New chief executive Jan Hospodka is steering the company toward AI-assisted shopping, and Jarabot slots directly into that plan.

What's the endgame? Shoptet plans to fold Jarabot into its product ecosystem, giving merchants automated handling of repeat queries, faster support responses, and help managing seasonal peaks. Jarabot will keep its brand and continue selling outside Shoptet.

"Jarabot brings exactly the layer of AI automation into our ecosystem that can help small and larger e-shops grow without having to immediately expand their team," Hospodka said (translated from Czech) .

The signal: The deal fits team.blue's strategy of bolting software businesses onto its ecosystem, which now serves over 3.3 million companies in 22 European countries. The notable shift is Shoptet making a targeted acquisition of its own rather than a market-changing one — a sign that platform owners are buying AI capability to lock it into merchant tooling.
