What each side brings: Mission Mars runs 44 venues across the UK. Rudy's Napoletana serves Neapolitan-style pizza across regional cities, while Albert's Schloss combines food, drink, and live entertainment in a smaller number of large-format sites. The group employs more than 1,800 people.
Why now? Mission Mars reports five FY26 openings all trading ahead of expectations, with further sites planned. Among them is Rudy's first Scottish location, opening in Glasgow.
The return: BGF first invested in 2018, when Mission Mars ran two Manchester venues. The exit generated a 3.75-times money multiple and a 21% internal rate of return. "This is an excellent example of a North West business which has created world-class brands and successfully rolled them out across the UK," said Matt Widdall, partner at BGF.
What's the endgame? Fynveur's backing is meant to accelerate the rollout of both brands. Chief executive Roy Ellis stays on and has flagged interest in deals, saying the company is "keen to explore potential strategic acquisitions." The change in ownership is supported by a debt facility from Santander, HSBC, and NatWest, with ClearwaterDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → advising on financing.
The signal: The deal reads as a growth-platform bet rather than a distressed sale, in a UK hospitality market that is more active but selective — advisers reported 104 transactions in the six months to March 2026, with strategic buyers increasingly prominent and private equity taking a smaller share. For an operator with demonstrated rollout momentum, a new majority owner signals confidence in casual dining brands despite well-documented sector pressures.
