Sateliot opens €100M Series C to deploy 16 satellites
What's the deal? In April 2026, Spanish satellite operator Sateliot announced a €100 million Series C to deploy 16 satellites, as Spain's minister for digital transformation and the civil service, Óscar López, announced during a visit to the company's headquarters. The round is structured as equity, with the possibility of adding debt, and was expected to close next summer.
What's the endgame? The capital will fund 16 satellites that complete Sateliot's Internet of Things (IoT) use case and act as a demonstrator for 5G New Radio technology carrying voice, video, and data. The company says its network brings connectivity to remote areas, serving both civil and military users.
Why now? In October, Sateliot launched five satellites, taking its fleet to 11. It says the additions will double daily connection opportunities and halve revisit times — strengthening the commercial case as the financing begins.
What could go wrong? The round is not yet closed: Sateliot is still seeking a lead investor and is counting on up to 50% public co-financing through match funding. That public money could prove pivotal to completing the raise.
The Spanish state already holds 18.7% of the company through Sepides (SEPI)Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and the Sociedad Española de Transformación Tecnológica (SETT). López called Sateliot "a strategic project" for the government and said assembly happens entirely in Spain, reinforcing "Spanish and European digital sovereignty."
The signal: The round marks Sateliot's shift from technology validation toward a more useful commercial service. Yet its longer-term ambition — a network of more than 500 satellites with higher-capacity services — remains a far larger build-out, one leaning heavily on state backing to get off the ground.
