Chiba Bank's succession fund buys out 60-year-old food wholesaler Kameya
What's the deal? The Chiba Engagement No. 1 fund, backed by Chiba BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Chibagin CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, acquired Kameya Foods Co., Ltd. on October 1, 2026, through a special-purpose company. The deal is a buyout; terms were not disclosed.
What each side brings: Kameya Foods, founded in 1964 and based in Ichikawa, Chiba, is a wholesaler of commercial food ingredients and alcohol for restaurants. It is known for Italian cuisine ingredients and combines its own delivery network with e-commerce to supply restaurants in the Tokyo and Osaka areas, as well as nationwide.
Why now? The fund targets companies with business-succession and growth needs. After acquiring the stake, Chibagin plans to second group staff and provide hands-on support aimed at lasting growth and higher corporate value.
What's the endgame? Chibagin says it will preserve Kameya's business base and client relationships while building a new management structure, upgrading governance, and strengthening sales and delivery.
The signal: Kameya is the fund's third purchase in 2026, following Nitto Holdings and Fujishoku. The pattern points to regional banks taking direct operational roles in business succession — less about large-scale industry consolidation than keeping specialist wholesalers running and growing.
