FinSight raises $100M fund to bet on 'physical AI
What's the deal? FinSight VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has launched a $100 million venture fund, the FinSight Physical AI Index Fund, targeting companies that build AI systems to act in the physical world. It is the firm's second thematic index fund and will back a concentrated portfolio of 10 to 12 companies across robotics, AI for science, foundation models, and hardware and infrastructure.
Why now? FinSight frames physical AI as "the third structural wave of artificial intelligence," after perception and generative AI. Founder and general partner Alexey Garyunov argues the sector sits at the same inflection point that "defined OpenAI and Anthropic in 2019."
What's the endgame? The fund follows FinSight's $50 million generative-AI index fund from last year. The firm, founded in 2004 and managing more than $1 billion in assets, is extending its "index" approach to a new theme as capital floods into robotics.
What could go wrong? Despite the "index" label, this is a concentrated, illiquid venture vehicle — not a diversified public-market product. A bet on just 10 to 12 private companies carries far more single-name risk than the name implies.
The signal: Physical AI has become a defining venture theme. FinSight's move is notable less for its size than for packaging private-market exposure to the sector just as the money rushes in.
