Dalet Labs raises $7M pre-seed to sell shopping via AI-image feeds

What's the deal? Dalet Labs, a New York-based AI commerce startup, has raised a $7 million pre-seed round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with SV Angel and angel investors participating. It is launching SceneDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an invite-only iPhone app that lets people scroll a feed of shoppable, AI-generated images.

What's the endgame? Founder Omer Bar-Tal, who left AI video startup Runway in 2025, sees Scene as a virtual mall for shoppers who want to buy something but aren't sure what. Users scroll a feed that adapts to their interests, with AI generating scenes of people wearing or using items — the products come from real brands across fashion, home decor, and sports.

Scene reached the US Apple App Store on Wednesday and isn't yet on Android. It links to hundreds of brands and retailers and earns through affiliate marketing, taking a cut of each in-app transaction.

Why now? Commerce has become a prime use case for AI, from chatbots to agents such as Meta's Muse. But Bar-Tal argues those tools miss the point. "AI is amazing when you know what you want, but it's really important to actually have an ability to discover and to see things," he said.

Who's backing it? Lisa Han, the Lightspeed partner who led the round, cited Bar-Tal's mix of "video AI research expertise" and a "deep understanding of what consumers want." Dalet Labs raised the round in late 2025, before finalising its product road map, and will spend it hiring engineers and researchers.

What could go wrong? Scene enters a crowded discovery market where TikTok Shop, Pinterest, and Amazon already blend browsing and buying, and rivals Doji and Alta use AI imagery for try-ons. It must prove generated images drive purchases and repeat visits — and that shoppers trust what they see. Getting people to download a new app is its own hurdle; Dalet Labs plans to lean on influencers and a holiday coupon campaign.

The signal: The round is an early bet on a competitive product concept, not proof that a new shopping destination has taken hold. It reflects a wider wager that AI can make browsing feel more tailored and inspiring, rather than simply automate the search for products.
