AvalonX raises $10M to bring continuous AI pen testing to small businesses

What's the deal? AvalonXDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an AI security startup, emerged from 18 months in stealth on October 28, 2026, with $10 million in funding led by Ridown Capital. Its continuous, AI-powered penetration testing platform targets small and midsize businesses that lack enterprise security teams or budgets.

What's the endgame? The platform runs on security AI trained on nine years of offensive-security data, paired with human expertise to expose breach paths before attackers find them. It is sold as a monthly subscription combining autonomous attack simulation with human review.

Why now? Many smaller firms rely on periodic penetration tests, leaving long gaps while systems and threats keep evolving. Verizon's 2025 Data Breach Investigations Report found ransomware in 88% of breaches involving small and midsize companies, compared with 39% at larger organisations.

"Large enterprises test constantly. They have red teams, consultants, and budgets to match," the company said, contrasting that with a 50-person firm facing the same threats without the resources.

What could go wrong? AvalonX is entering a crowded field. In October, Dutch startup Hadrian raised $40 million to expand its AI-agent platform for finding exploitable weaknesses, while French startup Fleuret AIDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → announced a €4 million pre-seed for automated testing. AvalonX's announcement alone does not show it has differentiated itself.

The signal: AI-driven offensive security is drawing investor money at both growth and early stages, with third-quarter cybersecurity funding up about 50% from the prior quarter — though that was driven by larger rounds as deal counts fell. AvalonX's bet is narrower: making continuous testing affordable enough for the small businesses that larger vendors have long overlooked.
