Why it matters: The deal expands Alchemy's Texas presence and adds Freeit's focus on state, local, and education (SLED) customers. It also strengthens Alchemy's reach into enterprise and midsize commercial businesses.
The details: For more than 16 years, Freeit has helped Texas customers navigate public-sector procurement and channel requirements, including DIR-supported business and distribution relationships. Its services span security and compliance, hybrid cloud, backup and protection, storage and hyperconvergence, virtual desktop infrastructure, and data archiving.
What's the endgame? The transaction is part of Alchemy's strategy to build a national platform through targeted acquisitions. It is the firm's third deal in 2026, following Southern California's Enterprise Computing SolutionsDealroom has a profile for this one. "Freeit has built its business around trusted relationships, strong technical expertise, and a commitment to helping customers solve complex technology challenges," said Wes Davis, co-chief executive officer and co-founder of Alchemy. "That approach aligns closely with how we serve customers at Alchemy."
Wayne Orchid, president of Freeit, said joining Alchemy "gives us the resources and broader expertise to support more of those needs while continuing to serve customers with the team and relationships they know."
The signal: The deal reflects sustained IT-services dealmaking in 2026, with private-equity-backed consolidation of managed-service providers especially active. More than a local expansion, it reads as a targeted platform-building move in a fragmented market.
