Gardera rejects buyout, raises $2.32M for AI cybersecurity platform
What's the deal? Stockholm cybersecurity startup GarderaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised US$2.78M in venture funding at a valuation of roughly $100 million. The company turned down an acquisition offer from a Swedish AI firm shortly after launching, choosing instead to build its own platform.
What's the endgame? Gardera wants to automate companies' security testing and sharply cut both the time and cost involved. Its founders, who previously ran application security (AppSec) programs across Europe, describe the product as an engineer that "reads the code, proves what is genuinely exploitable, ignores what is not, and opens the pull request while you sleep."
Why now? The founders — chief executive officer Marcus Modin, chief technology officer Patrik Nordlén, and chief product officer Shehzaad Saifulla — say security teams already have more findings than they can act on. Their thesis: the missing piece is not more tooling but "someone to do the work."
The signal: The round's most notable feature is the founders' decision to grow independently despite early buyer interest, a bet that an AI-driven AppSec platform is worth more built out than sold off.
