Trelleborg buys US aerospace plastics maker Tri-Mack in third such deal
What's the deal? Swedish engineered-polymer group Trelleborg has agreed to acquire Tri-Mack Plastics Manufacturing, a Rhode Island maker of high-performance thermoplastics and composites for aircraft engines and airframes. The purchase runs through its Trelleborg Sealing Solutions unit. Terms were not disclosed; closing is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
Who is Tri-Mack? Founded in 1974, the Bristol-based company runs a vertically integrated plant with in-house toolmaking, automation, and robotics. It also supplies semiconductor equipment and industrial gas turbines, and posted roughly US$36.3M in 2025 sales.
What's the endgame? Tri-Mack is the third US aerospace plastics specialist Trelleborg has added, following Magee Plastics in 2024 and Aero-PlasticsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in 2025. The sequence points to a deliberate aerospace platform, extending from cabin parts into advanced thermoplastic and composite components for aircraft structures and engines.
Why now? Trelleborg points to rising demand for thermoplastic composites. The materials cut weight, shorten manufacturing lead times, and improve cost efficiency — a draw for aircraft makers.
"Tri-Mack operates in an attractive growth segment within the aerospace industry, where demand for thermoplastic composite materials is increasing," said Jürgen Bosch, president of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions.
The signal: With no price disclosed, the deal's valuation can't yet be judged — but the pattern is clear. Trelleborg is building an aerospace materials platform through focused, bolt-on buys in a sector drawing steady investor interest.
