GlobalLogic folds into new Hitachi Digital brand, five years after $9.5B buyout
What's the deal? HitachiDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → is merging GlobalLogic with Hitachi Digital Services to form a new company, Hitachi Digital Inc., under a single global brand. The combined business will have about 35,000 professionals across 27 countries and more than 880 active clients. Terms were not disclosed.
Why now? The integration follows a plan Hitachi announced in January 2026. The rebrand campaign launched this week, with full integration set to complete by April 1, 2027.
What's the endgame? Hitachi Digital will pair GlobalLogic's software and digital product engineering with Hitachi Digital Services' expertise in enterprise systems and operations. It will focus on AI, cloud, data analytics, and enterprise software, plus embedding AI into robotics and industrial equipment.
The plan also calls for more partnerships, acquisitions, and hiring in AI, data, and cloud.
The backstory: Hitachi bought GlobalLogic for $9.5 billion in 2021. The firm kept its own brand within the Hitachi group until now. "Hitachi Digital brings digital engineering and operations together as one company, at global scale, with the industrial depth of Hitachi behind us," said Anand Birje, chief executive officer and chairman of Hitachi Digital.
The change carries weight in Ukraine, where GlobalLogic ranked fourth among the country's largest IT employers in summer 2026, with 5,273 specialists, according to DOU. The Ukrainian office remains the company's biggest in Europe and its second largest worldwide.
The signal: IT providers are racing to build depth in AI, data, and cloud as enterprise clients seek partners who can run transformation from development through operations. Hitachi's bet is that one global brand simplifies that pitch. The practical test will be whether integration actually eases client work — or just changes the nameplate.
