Uniwater buys UK's Hy-Ram in its second British deal

What's the deal? UniwaterDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Northern European water infrastructure group, has acquired Hy-Ram Engineering, a Mansfield-based specialist in tooling, products and hire for the water sector. Terms were undisclosed. The deal, announced October 26, 2026, is Uniwater's second UK acquisition this year, following its purchase of WCI.

What each side brings: Hy-Ram develops, manufactures and hires out tools used to connect, isolate and repair pressurised water mains without interrupting supply. Founded in 1976, it has 56 employees across its Mansfield headquarters and hire depots in Bury and Enfield. Many of its proprietary products are a UK market standard and are frequently specified in tenders.

Why now? Uniwater pointed to sustained spending on UK water networks as the driver. "With AMP8 and AMP9 driving sustained investment in water networks and maintenance, Hy-Ram gives us a strong platform to grow in the UK," said Carl Berglund, Uniwater's head of UK and business area director.

What changes? Tim Hallam stays on as managing director, leading the business into what he called its "next chapter." Hy-Ram's customers — water utilities, Tier-1 contractors and wholesalers — see continuity under new ownership.

What's the endgame? Uniwater groups 26 small and medium-sized companies across Northern Europe, spanning its Treatment, Flow and Solutions business areas. The back-to-back UK deals mark a push to extend that model into the British market.

The signal: The acquisition fits an active UK water-supply-chain investment cycle, with the AMP8 regulatory period (2025–30) expected to drive heavy utility spending on infrastructure. Recent deals — including NG BaileyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s purchase of water engineering group ESGDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → — show firms adding specialist delivery capacity ahead of that pipeline. Uniwater's move is a bet on consolidation around it.
