Janus Electric raises $1.41M from Electrovaya to fuel North American expansion

What's the deal? Australian zero-emission truck developer Janus ElectricDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has secured a roughly US$1.29M equity investment from North American lithium-ion battery maker Electrovaya, the company announced in October 2026. The placement, priced at the five-day VWAP, also grants Electrovaya three-year warrants equal to 150% of the placement shares, exercisable at a 25% premium.

What's the endgame? Janus converts diesel trucks to electric power using a battery-swapping platform, and the deal provides working capital to scale in the United States and Canada. Alongside the investment, it lodged initial purchase orders worth roughly US$24.3M for Electrovaya battery systems, enough to support 124 heavy-duty truck conversions across North America.

Why now? The move deepens a supply partnership begun in 2025 and builds on fast-growing demand. Janus's July order book reached 112 truck conversions, with initial deliveries then expected from the fourth quarter of 2026.

What could go wrong? The order value is indicative, not guaranteed: purchase orders remain subject to delivery scheduling, and some customer commitments carry conditions, such as the California orders tied to incentive approvals.

The signal: The announcement ties financing directly to fulfilling supply commitments, a meaningful execution and supply-chain milestone. But in a market attracting far larger commitments — including a 2,500-truck North American coalition order — its significance hinges on converting conditional demand into funded deliveries.
