India's MK Sons raises $8.69M from anchors ahead of jewellery IPO

What's the deal? M K Sons Fine Jewels raised US$11.2M from nine anchor investors on October 27, ahead of its US$3.74-crore IPO. The company allotted 51 lakh shares at US$2.2 each, the top of its US$2.08-US$2.2 price band.

Who's in? Anchors include Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE and Advent Global Fund PCC, alongside Venus Investment VCC, Khandelwal Finance, Tiger Strategies Fund-I, and others. There was no allocation to domestic mutual funds, insurers, or pension funds.

Why now? Public subscription runs from October 28 to October 30, with listing planned on the BSE and NSE. Proceeds from the fresh issue will fund a new showroom in Maharashtra, expand an existing store in Gujarat, and repay borrowings; promoter Ramchand Murlidhar Raimalani will also sell shares.

What's the endgame? Incorporated in 2012, MK Sons designs, manufactures, and retails gold, diamond, and cubic zirconia jewellery through five showrooms across Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Revenue grew from US$29.5M in FY24 to US$73.2M in FY26, while profit after tax rose to US$7.06M.

What could go wrong? High gold prices have lifted spending but weighed on jewellery volumes, raising questions about sustained demand. The anchor allocation signals institutional interest, but does not establish broad investor demand or the issue's valuation appeal.

The signal: MK Sons joins a busy run of 2026 jewellery listings, including Lalithaa Jewellery Mart's US$23.1-crore offer and Shankesh Jewellers' US$4.98-crore issue. The wave reflects strong sector momentum, even as scale and business models vary widely across the listings.
