Odeko buys Montreal's Nantel McDiarmid in first cross-border deal

What's the deal? Odeko has acquired Nantel McDiarmid, a Montreal-based food and beverage distributor, in its first cross-border acquisition. Odeko is an operations and technology partner to more than 30,000 independent coffee shops, cafés, and food businesses across the US. Terms were not disclosed.

Who is Nantel McDiarmid? With roots dating to 1960, the company grew from a family-owned dairy distributor into a recognised player in Canadian food and beverage distribution. It took its current form in 2019 after Nantel Distribution merged with P. McDiarmid et fils, and today serves more than 3,500 business customers across Canada.

What's the endgame? The deal gives Odeko an established Canadian distribution network and an entry point for its ordering technology. Canadian customers gain access to Odeko's platform, while US customers gain access to Nantel's specialty brands and supplier relationships.

Why now? The two sides have worked together since 2019, when Nantel McDiarmid began working with a US distributor later acquired by Odeko. "Our relationship with Odeko goes back to our early days," said Justin Letham, president of Nantel McDiarmid, who added that the Canadian leadership team will remain in place.

The signal: The acquisition extends a rapid US roll-up into Canada. In 2026 Odeko also bought Washington-area distributor District DistributionDealroom has a profile for this one.
