Korean AI mapping startup neer raises seed round to turn creator picks into store sales
What's the deal? NeerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which uses AI to map restaurant and travel content from Instagram and YouTube, has raised a seed round from the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation. The center discovered the startup through its startup support program and plans to back follow-on growth, including a TIPS linkage. The amount was not disclosed.
What does neer do? It analyses social posts about restaurants, cafes, and travel spots, then links the venues to real location data and collects them on a map. The startup has worked with 12 creator teams with a combined 1.27 million followers; fans then visit the mapped spots and share reviews and new finds.
What's the endgame? Neer's next product is prepaid discount vouchers. Creators sell discounted vouchers for the stores they feature, fans buy and redeem them in person, and stores pay only for vouchers actually sold.
The model aims to solve a tracking gap: stores spend on sampling, sponsorship, and platform ads without knowing if spending converts to customers. Vouchers record which creator drove how many visitors, while creators earn on sales rather than leaning on one-off sponsorships. Neer plans to make redemption as simple as a gift voucher, with no staff training required.
Why YouTube? In interviews with about 100 users, neer found long-form YouTube videos were the most trusted source for deciding where to go — less ad-driven and richer in detail. But finding a venue from a long clip means scrubbing back through the footage. Neer is building video-understanding AI to pull those locations onto the map automatically, plus its own low-cost model to process video at scale.
Chief executive officer Lee Tae-yun called the local market where "people find places and stores meet customers" a large, still-underdeveloped space, adding the company aims "to open this market" (translated from Korean).
The signal: Interest in creator commerce is rising — CJ ONSTYLEDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has named it a growth pillar for 2026 — but most models focus on product distribution rather than driving visits to local stores. In China, platforms like DouyinDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → have built voucher sales on creator videos. Neer's bet is to measure creator marketing in actual offline revenue; with the voucher service still in preparation and the raise undisclosed, this is early-stage validation rather than proven traction.
