Vouch raises $500K from Y Combinator to build an AI wealth manager for India

What's the deal? Vouch, an AI-native wealth management platform, has raised $500,000 in pre-seed funding from Y Combinator. The startup, founded by former Jane Street and Robinhood product lead Arnav Ghatiwala, is building a platform to make personalised financial guidance accessible to Indian families.

What's the endgame? Vouch connects to users' existing investment portfolios, learns their financial goals, and helps optimise investments, with human experts involved in key decisions. The company wants to become the single platform Indians use to manage all their money.

Why now? India's mutual fund industry is expanding fast. Monthly systematic investment plan (SIP) inflows have climbed to nearly US$4.35B, and mutual fund assets under management have grown 2.4 times in five years to US$1.16T, according to the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI).

Ghatiwala, a computer science graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, said managing his own investments in India while working in the US inspired the platform. At Robinhood, he was the youngest product manager to own a product line, leading the build of its Advisor Network.

What could go wrong? Vouch plans to launch its app in November 2026, subject to regulatory licensing — a step still outstanding. Fewer than one in 10 Indians invest, so adoption remains unproven.

The signal: India's wealthtech sector is drawing steady capital. AI-native wealth manager CREST raised $3.1 million at pre-seed in June, PowerUp Money raised $7.1 million, and later-stage entrant VeriqusDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → secured US$52.6M. Vouch's YC-backed round places it in a crowded push to make advice more accessible, where traction and regulatory approach — not the YC name — will decide its standing.
