Finland's Arctic RAVN raises €2.5M to scale European drone electronics

What's the deal? Finnish defence technology company Arctic RAVNDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised €2.5 million in convertible loan commitments to scale production of electronics for drones and other unmanned systems. The Riihimäki- and Espoo-based startup secured the funding within five days, exceeding its €2 million target. It did not disclose participating investors.

What's the endgame? Arctic RAVN manufactures electronic speed controllers (ESCs), which regulate electric motors, and is developing flight controllers, motors, and modular drone frames. All products are designed and made in Finland using components sourced from Europe and NATO-allied countries. The money will fund more production capacity and product development.

The company has already invested more than €1 million in ESC production. It aims to build tens of thousands of units by the end of 2026 — a significant share already reserved by customers — and to reach as many as two million circuit boards annually over the longer term.

Why now? "Investors committed to the round within days, even though we have not yet officially launched a single product," said chief executive officer Matti Vansén. He pointed to follow-up orders and talks with leading defence manufacturers as signs of demand for European drone electronics.

What's at stake? The €2.5 million sits in the lower-middle band for deals of this type, but it targets a specific bottleneck: scaling reliable, locally sourced components rather than designing drone platforms. Much of the planned initial output is already reserved, though the raise's significance will depend on turning that demand into sustained deliveries.

Arctic RAVN is a studio company of Finnish Defence House, a venture studio that identifies, funds, and builds defence technology businesses.

The signal: The round fits a broader push to build European defence production capacity, alongside efforts like PatriaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s planned Finnish drone work and Kelluu's factory expansion. Arctic RAVN's aim to reduce reliance on single-source supply chains, with traceable component origins, reflects where the sector is heading — though its two-million-board target remains an ambition, not demonstrated capacity.
