Wellness Communications, Bell System 24 take majority stake in healthcare caller T-PEC

What's the deal? Wellness CommunicationsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Bell System 24 Holdings will jointly acquire a majority stake in T-PECDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which runs one of Japan's largest medical call centres. The deal was announced in October 2026; terms were not disclosed.

What does T-PEC do? It serves companies, health insurers, and local governments with 24-hour health and medical advice from doctors, nurses, and psychologists, plus employee assistance programs (EAP), specialist referrals, and second opinions. T-PEC counts more than 1,500 client organisations and handles about one million consultations a year, with over 27 million cumulatively.

Why now? Japan's ageing population and labour shortages are stretching company and regional health systems, while demand for external services that route people to the right care is rising. Mandatory stress checks are being extended to small workplaces of fewer than 50 workers, adding regulatory tailwinds.

What's the endgame? Wellness Communications wants to connect T-PEC's services to its wellbeing platform, GrowbaseDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, linking health-check data to consultations and medical referrals. The first step pairs its Growbase Mentally product, released in late September, with T-PEC's EAP and harassment hotline services. Bell System 24 adds contact-centre operations, a broad client base, and AI tools.

The backstory: The two acquirers struck a capital and business alliance in 2023 and have since co-developed BPO services for medical institutions. Chief executive officer Matsuda Yasuhide said the aim is a "value chain" giving employers and families access to care "when they need it." The deal follows Wellness Communications' acquisition this month of SMSDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s stress-check business, part of a push deeper into mental health.

What could go wrong? The purchase price, ownership split, and expected earnings impact have not been disclosed, so the scale of any synergies remains unclear. Completion is conditional on T-PEC's board approving the share transfer.

The signal: Japan's corporate wellness market is consolidating as data platforms, call centres, and medical networks combine to meet tightening health rules and a shortage of specialist staff. The bet is that merging human expertise with technology can scale support to more employers and residents.
