Lightspeed among Anthropic IPO’s biggest VC winners after leading Series E

What’s the story? Lightspeed Venture Partners is named by Newcomer alongside Menlo Ventures and Iconiq as one of the biggest venture winners in Anthropic’s coming IPO — firms that led middle-stage rounds, kept following on, and built stakes Newcomer says look to be worth tens of billions, while no VC owns more than 2% of the company.

The check. Lightspeed led Anthropic’s $3.5 billion Series E in March 2025 at a $61.5 billion post-money valuation (company announcement). Newcomer reports Lightspeed put in about $1 billion as lead, with part of the commitment filled by top LPs co-investing. Lightspeed had already engaged earlier, including a ~$100 million participation in the Series D per Newcomer. Unlike Spark, Menlo and Iconiq, public Bloomberg/TechCrunch stake tables have not published a single dollar mark for Lightspeed’s full Anthropic position ahead of the IPO.
