Protectt.ai buys majority stake in Bosch-incubated AIShield to add enterprise AI security
What's the deal? Protectt.aiDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired a controlling stake in AIShieldDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an AI security platform incubated within BoschDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Global Software Technologies (BGSW). The deal combines primary and secondary share purchases; terms and timeline were not disclosed, and Bosch retains a minority stake.
What does each side do? AIShield, founded in 2022 by Shiv Kumar and Amit Phadke, builds security tools for machine-learning models, generative AI applications and AI supply chains, helping enterprises defend against attacks that manipulate AI systems. Protectt.ai, founded in 2020, provides mobile threat defence that protects apps against cyber threats and fraud.
What's the endgame? The Bessemer Venture Partners-backed startup wants to pair AIShield's AI security with its mobile platform to build a full-stack AI security offering spanning consumer and enterprise use cases. AIShield will operate as an independent entity with its own management and the ability to raise outside funding.
Why now? Cofounder Manish Mimani expects mobile apps to lean increasingly on AI agents over the next one to two years, reducing reliance on conventional interfaces. Protectt.ai, whose technology runs on more than 1 billion devices and processes 15 billion app sessions monthly, had already been researching AI model scanning and agent security.
What changes next? AIShield plans to grow from 12-15 employees to 50-60 by March 2027, hiring PhD researchers and technical talent to focus on products, research and patents. Some of Protectt.ai's AI security team will move across. Protectt.ai is also weighing further acquisitions in areas such as API and cloud security.
The signal: The deal fits a broader push to buy AI-security capabilities, alongside larger moves such as Palo Alto Networks' planned purchase of PortkeyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Proofpoint's $6.3 billion Varonis deal. Protectt.ai's bet is smaller but strategic, giving it AIShield's technology and Bosch provenance to build what Mimani frames as an India-developed AI security platform.
