DatAIMed raises €1.2M to bring evidence-based AI into Italy's hospitals
What's the deal? DatAIMedDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Turin-based clinical AI startup, has raised a €1.2 million seed round combining equity and industrial support. Maggioli S.p.A.Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → led the operation — taking a 20% stake — alongside Zooga S.r.l., SocialFare, and private investors including healthcare professionals.
One caveat: the €1.2 million total covers both cash and Maggioli's commercial and industrial support, so it is not a pure cash raise.
What's the endgame? Founded in 2024 by Dario Taborelli, DatAIMed sells an AI platform that lets doctors query biomedical literature, national guidelines, EMA and AIFA drug databases, and internal hospital documents — with every answer linked to a verifiable source. The platform now counts 15,000 registered clinicians and is used by health authorities, research hospitals, and clinics across Italy.
A second product line automates clinical and administrative paperwork, from visit notes and discharge letters to ICD-10 coding and integration with electronic health records. The goal, the company says, is to cut repetitive work and "return time to care."
The fresh capital will go toward strengthening its technical and commercial teams, accelerating the documentation and coding features, and building integrations with hospital systems.
Why Maggioli? The group already serves Italy's public health authorities, giving DatAIMed a potential route to hospital customers. "With its entry into DatAIMed, the Maggioli GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → chooses to value a made-in-Italy company," said chairman and chief executive officer Paolo Maggioli (translated from Italian), calling the deal part of a wider push into digital health.
What could go wrong? The market for clinical AI is crowded, and European health systems carry varying regulatory and data-governance demands. DatAIMed hosts its infrastructure within the EU to meet GDPR and the AI Act, but broad adoption across different systems is far from guaranteed.
The signal: Italy's digital-health spending hit €2.7 billion in 2025, yet AI and analytics reached just €228 million, and one report found diagnostic-support AI in only 11% of facilities. DatAIMed's round — modest in size but backed by a strategic partner with hospital reach — fits a wider European move to automate clinical and administrative workflows, following deals like Health ForceDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s €4.2 million raise in September.
