SFC Environmental raises $21M from anchor investors ahead of IPO

What's the deal? SFC Environmental Technologies, an Indian wastewater-treatment company, has raised US$27.2M from anchor investors ahead of its initial public offering, which opens for public subscription on Tuesday, October 27. It allocated 6,068,460 equity shares at US$4.48 each.

Who's in? Marquee backers include Norway's Government Pension Fund Global, Societe Generale, and Edelweiss Life InsuranceDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Equity-oriented schemes from SBI Infrastructure Fund, ICICI Prudential Manufacturing Fund, and Nippon India Small Cap Fund also participated.

Of the total anchor allocation, 5,409,150 shares went to eight domestic mutual funds across 14 schemes.

Why now? The anchor round lands in a busy but uneven Indian IPO market. Companies raised a record US$12.8B in the first half of FY27, yet about half of a recent wave of mainboard listings now trade below their issue price.

What's the endgame? SFC's wider US$90.7M IPO is mostly an offer for sale, with only US$20.4M in fresh capital — earmarked largely for debt repayment and working capital. The company sells C-Tech, a proprietary technology for treating sewage and effluents.

IIFL Capital Services, JM FinancialDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Nuvama Wealth Management are the book-running lead managers. The shares will list on the NSE and BSE.

The signal: Strong anchor interest shows institutional appetite for a wastewater issuer in a sector backed by large infrastructure spending plans. But it is not a verdict on valuation, nor proof of broad investor demand or likely listing gains.
