Tomo acquires Fae to consolidate the Gen Z AI agent market

What's the deal? TomoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a conversational AI startup, has acquired FaeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an iMessage-based personal agent popular with Gen Z users. Terms were undisclosed. Fae users will begin migrating to Tomo on November 2, 2026.

What each side brings: Both companies build AI agents designed to be capable and socially intelligent. Fae operated natively in iMessage, sending memes and TikToks and even playing GamePigeon, and its FPTI personality test has been used by more than 100,000 people.

Why now? Fae co-founder Edison Qu described Tomo as its biggest competitor. "As hot as the personal agent market is right now, winning means consolidating, so instead of battling it out, we're combining forces," he wrote.

Why Fae? Tomo valued Fae's traction outside tech hubs. This year, Fae handled more than 20 million messages across 182 countries — a fit with Tomo, which says 98% of its own users live outside Silicon Valley.

What's the endgame? Tomo, which counts over 100,000 users, wants to become "the consumer agent for the next billion people." Fae's brand, ideas, and community will feed that push. Fae's founding team, Friends for Humanity, will keep building consumer AI products independently.

The signal: This is a small, strategic deal about users and product, not a headline price. It shows personal AI delivered through messaging is drawing real demand — and that the race for everyday users is already pushing rivals to combine.
