Chinese photonics chipmaker Huaxin lands Series C extension from Shenzhen Capital Group

What's the deal? Huaxin Semiconductor TechnologyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Chinese maker of compound semiconductor optoelectronic chips, has closed a Series C extension round. The deal was led by Shenzhen Capital Group and Zhuhai High-tech Venture Capital. The amount was not disclosed.

What does Huaxin do? It develops and produces compound semiconductor photonic chips, with mastery of III-V and GaN-based wide-bandgap technology. Products span high-brightness LEDs, VCSELs, and DFB and EML photonic chips, serving laser display, fibre-optic communication, data centres, and supercomputing.

Why it matters: Huaxin says it was among the first in China to mass-produce 25G and 56G high-speed VCSELs. Its 112G optical chips are now in small-batch supply, with its fully automated line reaching a monthly capacity of 4,000,000 units.

What's the endgame? The company runs its own MOCVD equipment and handles everything from epitaxial design to wafer output in-house. That vertical control positions it to turn its high-speed chip technology into commercial scale — if shipment volumes and customer demand hold.

The signal: The round reflects active investment in optical chips through 2026, as state-backed funds bet on both sensing-grade VCSELs and high-speed optical interconnects for AI data centres. With the amount and use of proceeds undisclosed, the raise reads more as an investor vote of confidence than proof of scaled orders or profitability.
