What's the endgame? Intuitivo wants to "give time back to those who teach," said co-founder and chief executive officer João Guimarães. The platform generates test drafts via AI from a simple prompt, converts old PDF tests into interactive versions, and corrects closed-answer exercises instantly.
The traction: Intuitivo operates in more than 500 Portuguese schools, with over 200 contracts with municipalities, school groups, and private colleges, plus 75,000 registered teachers. In the 2025/2026 academic year, around one million assessments ran through the platform, saving an estimated 165,000 hours of teaching work, the company says.
Why now? The company is tackling a documented workload problem. OECD data shows teachers spend an average of just 43% of their working time actually teaching. In Portugal, where teacher shortages persist, grading alone takes 6.9 hours a week — above the OECD average of 4.6 hours.
Where it's headed: The new funding backs the move into Brazil and will nearly double the team by year-end. The product was built with teachers and maintains a community of around 3,200 of them who test new tools and shape development.
The signal: At €1.35 million, the round sits in the 72nd percentile by amount for comparable deals, a solid early raise for an edtech aiming beyond its home market. Portuguese startups increasingly look to Brazil as a natural, Portuguese-speaking expansion ground — and Intuitivo is betting its teacher-built tooling travels.
