By the numbers: Genesta's asset management business posted net sales of about €9.6 million in 2025, up from €9.1 million in 2024. Operating profit rose to roughly €2.7 million from €2.5 million.

What's the endgame? eQ frames the deal as the first step in building an international private markets growth platform and expanding its real estate business Nordic-wide. The acquisition hands eQ local operations in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, plus a Luxembourg-based fund manager authorised as an alternative investment fund manager.

Why now? The transaction supports eQ's Strategy 2030, which targets a return to strong growth. "The acquisition of Genesta is the first step in building an international private markets growth platform," said Jouko Pölönen, chief executive officer of eQ Plc.

Genesta serves more than 20 institutional investor clients, primarily European pension investors. Its partners — David C. Neil, Philip Björk, Daniel Tallqvist, and Ted Söderlund — have committed to staying on. "eQ's strategy, culture and long-term approach make it a strong owner for Genesta," said Neil, Genesta's chief executive officer.

The signal: The deal reflects how Nordic asset managers are consolidating to scale international institutional reach and private markets exposure. For eQ, Genesta's investor network and Luxembourg platform offer a ready-made channel to distribute new products beyond its home market.
