What's the deal? MarketplaceDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the business and economic news program owned by American Public MediaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, has received a grant from the Nasdaq Foundation's Economic Opportunity Initiative. The money will fund a digital hub bundling the outlet's reporting and learning content to lower barriers to financial education.

What's the endgame? The program centers on four financial literacy podcasts: Million Bazillion, Financially Inclined, This Is Uncomfortable, and Must Be the Money. The grant will expand classroom-ready resources through educational partners and push content into communities and across social media.

Marketplace broadcasts on more than 800 public radio stations and reaches over 10,000,000 listeners each week. The grant aims to deepen the discoverability and reach of its existing resources.

Why now? The Nasdaq Foundation's grant program targets underserved communities, aiming to equip them with tools to share in wealth created by markets. "Financial literacy is the foundation of economic opportunity," said Jailan Griffiths, chair of the Nasdaq Foundation and head of Nasdaq's Purpose Initiatives.

Neal Scarbrough, vice president and general manager of Marketplace, said the funding lets it "accelerate its efforts to expand the depth, discoverability, and reach of these resources."

The signal: A market operator funding independent financial journalism reflects a growing bet that broad economic understanding underpins participation in capital markets. For Marketplace, the grant extends a mission to raise economic literacy at a time when access to trustworthy financial education remains uneven.
