GLW Feeds buys majority stake in feed-additive startup Abireo

What's the deal? GLW Feeds has acquired a shareholding in Abireo Animal NutritionDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a long-term partnership announced in October 2026. Terms were undisclosed, but Companies House filings show GLW now controls more than 50% but less than 75% of Abireo's shares and voting rights.

Who's involved? GLW Feeds, established in 1873, is a family-owned maker of compound and blended animal feed and a national straights trader serving UK livestock farmers. Abireo, founded in 2025, develops feed-additive solutions for the ruminant and monogastric sectors.

What's the endgame? The deal gives Abireo capital and manufacturing capacity to expand across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. GLW gains specialist technical expertise in areas including rumen-protected amino acids, yeast technology, and toxin mitigation.

What changes? Little, for now. Abireo keeps its independence, team, customers, and distribution model, the companies said.

Why it matters? "Becoming a shareholder in Abireo represents a long-term investment in a business with a strong commitment to innovation, impressive technical expertise and an established reputation within the industry," said Louis White, managing director at GLW Feeds.

Technical director Sophie Parker-Norman said Abireo wanted a partner that "understood the importance of our independence, relationships and the way we work."

The signal: The UK feed sector is reshaping. HarbroDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → acquired CargillDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s Dalton operation in 2026, while ABNDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → said it would exit the UK pig and poultry compound-feed market. GLW's move is a smaller, strategic bet — buying technical depth rather than scale.
