What's the endgame? Founded in 2021, CureBay runs a hybrid model of technology-enabled clinics, community health workers, and digital care across underserved areas. It operates more than 250 clinics across seven states, backed by over 1,800 Swasthya Mitras, 530 clinical staff, and 230 doctor partners.

Where's it expanding? The company plans to push into new markets, including Andhra Pradesh, and strengthen its AI tools for screening, health insights, and clinical decisions. It also eyes a longer-term target of 800 clinics across states such as Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

Why now? The raise follows CureBay's $21 million Series B in 2025, led by Bertelsmann India Investments. Chief executive officer Priyadarshi Mohapatra said the company expects 100% growth this financial year and is aiming for EBITDA break-even.

What could go wrong? The model is capital- and operations-intensive, combining physical clinics with digital care at scale. Whether the planned expansion can hold service quality and economics is the key test.

The signal: CureBay's round sits in the smaller tier of deal sizes, around the 18th percentile by amount — notable less as a sector-wide funding surge than as a follow-on bet on scaling rural primary care. Interest persists: Kolkata-based iKure raised $1.8 million in September 2026 to grow its own network.
