What does it do? The Milan-based startup designs acoustic metamaterials — structures whose shape, rather than mass, blocks sound. Its products weigh up to 30% less than conventional barriers at the same acoustic performance.

What's the endgame? The money will fund international expansion, new applications, and stronger delivery capabilities, plus targeted acquisitions. Deutsche BahnDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has certified its transparent noise barrier, and Mercedes-Benz uses the technology in series production.

Why now? One in five Europeans lives with harmful noise levels, which the World Health Organization ranks second only to air pollution among environmental health risks. Data centres, rail networks, and electric vehicles all need lighter, certified noise control.

Founded in 2018 by Luca D'Alessandro, Giovanni Capellari, and Stefano Caverni, the company has doubled revenue every year since and reached break even in 2025.

What could go wrong? The round's significance rests on whether Phononic Vibes can turn its technology into repeatable industrial deployments rather than pilots alone. "Weight has always been the price of quiet. We have shown it is a design choice," said D'Alessandro.

The signal: The €25 million cheque is a sharp step-up from Phononic Vibes' roughly €6 million round in 2022 and ranks in the top third of comparable rounds by size. In a niche where rivals raise far smaller, application-focused sums, the deal marks a shift from research toward scaling and commercialization.
