Italy's Biogenera raises €667K on CrowdFundMe, eyes Euronext listing
What's the deal? Italian biotech BiogeneraDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised €667,469 (about $749,517) in a growth equity round through equity-crowdfunding platform CrowdFundMeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, clearing its €249,984 minimum. The campaign, which closes October 26, values the company at €90 million pre-money.
What does Biogenera do? Based in Ozzano dell'Emilia near Bologna, it develops anti-gene drugs built on its patented MyGenera platform. Its lead candidate, BGA002, targets aggressive MYCN-driven paediatric cancers and holds orphan drug status from the FDA and EMA.
Why now? The raise is meant to fund Biogenera's move from lab to clinic. A Phase I study is planned for early 2027 at Padua Hospital, though BGA002 remains preclinical with no human data yet.
The minimum raised covers only the regulatory work needed to start the trial. Completing the full Phase I — 12 patients across four cohorts — would cost around €2.5 million. The company says it needs €35 million total to finish clinical development, expand MyGenera, and consolidate its business lines.
What's the endgame? Biogenera says it has already begun preparations to list on Euronext within two years, and is pursuing possible industrial deals with pharmaceutical companies.
What could go wrong? The listing ambition is not new. A 2020 SPAC merger with Life Care Capital collapsed, and planned Euronext Paris listings flagged in 2021, 2022, and 2024 never happened. The current campaign again frames a listing as a goal, not a done deal.
The signal: This is Biogenera's third trip to the crowd — it raised €2.87 million in 2021 and €1.58 million on MamacrowdDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in 2024. For regional biotech, the combined use of crowdfunding, industrial partnerships, and public markets shows how early-stage programmes are stitching together capital well before any human results arrive.
