FFL Partners closes sixth buyout fund at $1.35B, 50% above target

What's the deal? FFL PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has closed its sixth private equity fund, FFL Capital Partners VI, with more than $1.35 billion in commitments. The San Francisco firm said the oversubscribed vehicle is 50% larger than Fund V, which raised $917 million in 2022.

Who backed it? FFL drew commitments from a mix of longtime and new investors, including public and private pensions, financial institutions, insurance companies, endowments and foundations, and family offices.

What's the endgame? Fund VI keeps FFL's Sector Exploration and Expertise Development strategy, targeting healthcare and tech-enabled services companies with steady growth and strong management. It will write equity cheques of $50 million to $200 million for control or significant minority stakes.

The firm is already deploying the capital. Recent investments include behavioural pharmacy Janus RXDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Pioneer HOA, consulting firm Waylin PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Ally Technical.

Why it matters. The close landed well above FFL's $1 billion target in what managing partner Cas Schneller called "a challenging fundraising environment." US private-equity fundraising was subdued in the first half of 2026, with capital concentrating among established managers as investors face weak distributions and slow exits.

The signal: FFL's raise points to continued investor appetite for proven, sector-focused firms — particularly in healthcare and services — rather than a broad fundraising rebound. The firm, founded in 1997, now holds more than $7 billion in cumulative commitments.
