Latitudo 40 raises €2.9M to turn satellite data into predictive tools

What's the deal? Italian Earth observation startup Latitudo 40Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has raised €2.9 million in an early-stage round led by VertisDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → SGR, through its Vertis Venture 6 Digital Sud fund. Kurrant VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, returning investor CRIFDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Intesa SanpaoloDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → also took part. Announced in September, the money will fund technology development and international expansion.

What's the endgame? Founded in Naples in 2017, Latitudo 40 turns satellite imagery into decision-ready information for cities, planners, and infrastructure operators. It runs two platforms: EarthDataInsights, a SaaS tool for monitoring environmental change and climate risk, and EarthDataPlace, a marketplace for ready-to-use geospatial analyses.

The company now wants to shift from observing the planet to predicting what happens on it. Its strategy rests on two pillars — Agentic Earth Observation, which uses AI agents to autonomously query and interpret satellite data, and Physical AI, which links that intelligence to the systems managing cities and infrastructure. A proprietary AI foundation model will underpin both.

What they said: "With Agentic EO, we are building agents capable of autonomously combining and interpreting satellite and geospatial data; with Physical AI, we aim to connect this intelligence to the real world, helping cities, infrastructure and organisations move from observation to action," said chief executive officer and founder Gaetano Volpe.

Who brings what? Vertis provides venture-capital experience, Kurrant Ventures a focus on smart-city and utility technologies, and CRIF expertise in business information and analytics. The round extends existing ties: CRIF backed an earlier round, and Kurrant's investment was announced in January 2026.

Why now? Investor interest in turning satellite data into usable environmental intelligence is building. In March, Vienna-based Another EarthDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → raised €3.5 million to build AI tools and synthetic datasets for Earth observation — a comparable, if not identical, deal.

The signal: At €2.9 million, this is a modest growth round — it sits around the 57th percentile for deal size — in a sector that also draws far larger, infrastructure-scale financings. Its significance rests less on the amount than on whether Latitudo 40's promised predictive software gains commercial traction.
