HRS raises €1.5M in cut-down round as cash runway shrinks to December
What's the deal? Hydrogen Refueling Solutions (HRSDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →), a French maker of hydrogen refueling stations, has closed a €1.5 million capital increase led by Arago Technologie. Only €0.5 million came in as fresh cash; the remaining €1 million converts existing debt the company owed. HRS issued 1,875,000 new shares at €0.80 each.
Why now? The raise is a bridge, not a growth round. HRS said it initially sought €3.81 million but cut the target after certain investors withdrew and Arago reduced its subscription to €0.5 million, citing administrative difficulties.
What could go wrong? Combined with a second €0.5 million bond tranche, the deal adds just €1 million in new liquidity and extends the cash runway only to the end of December 2026. That outlook also depends on an expected customer payment and either further bond drawdowns or Arago's pledged additional €1 million.
The backdrop: HRS is under pressure. Its 2025–26 IFRS revenue fell 5% to €10.7 million, while delayed projects and roughly €6 million in outstanding receivables squeezed its cash position. A sale-and-leaseback of its Champagnier headquarters, valued at €22 million to €25 million, remains expected by the end of 2026.
The signal: HRS bills itself as Europe's leader in hydrogen refueling stations, but this cut-down raise underscores the funding strain across the sector. Germany's 2026 support program drew applications for more than twice its available funding, yet station operators have faced weak demand and closures. For HRS, the money buys time rather than momentum.
