JDG buys Mighty House in second acquisition in months
What's the deal? JDG Estate Agents has acquired Mighty House Sales and LettingsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, its second acquisition in a matter of months as it expands across Lancaster and Morecambe. The deal, completed in September, follows JDG's purchase of Castle Properties earlier in the summer. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Who's who? Mighty House has operated as a high street sales and lettings agency for roughly 10 years, while Castle Properties specialised in residential lettings. Both businesses are being integrated into the JDG brand.
What changes? The two acquisitions have taken JDG's managed lettings portfolio past 450 properties. The agency has also expanded its team to support the additional business.
Why now? John Gallagher, of JDG, told EYE that further deals could follow. "I am looking to continue the expansion over the coming months and years," he said.
What's the rationale? "Both businesses have built strong local relationships, and we're delighted to welcome their clients and colleagues to JDG," Gallagher said. He added that the priority remains "the personal service, client care and local knowledge people expect when they trust us with a move or a property."
JDG has operated for more than 35 years and reports helping over 9,000 households move. It has earned Gold recognition for sales and lettings at the EA Masters awards for seven consecutive years, and topped the Best Estate Agent Guide rankings for sales and lettings in 2022 and 2023.
The signal: A well-established independent agency is buying up smaller local rivals to consolidate its presence in a single market — folding acquired brands into one name while betting that scale and local knowledge can coexist.
