Fundraise

Air traffic AI startup ASI raises $325M at $3B valuation

What's the deal? Air Space Intelligence (ASI) raised $325 million in a Series C round led by Spark Capital, valuing the Boston-based startup at $3 billion. Craft Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, and affiliates of Citadel Securities also participated.

What's the endgame? ASI builds an AI system that helps the military, airlines, and air-traffic controllers manage assets. The new funding will expand that system.

Why now? The round follows a June contract from the Federal Aviation Administration worth up to $875 million over 12 years to modernize US air-traffic management. ASI also won Air Force-related work in September, placing it at the intersection of commercial aviation software and defense technology.

By the numbers: The raise ranks in the 99th percentile of all-time US Series C rounds in the security sector, across a sample of 568 deals. It dwarfs the $34 million Series B ASI closed in 2023.

The signal: ASI is part of a resurgence in US defense and aerospace technology startups drawing both investor and government interest.
