IASOL co-founder César Gimeno buys out company in full to chase solar growth

What's the deal? César Gimeno, co-founder and director general of Spanish solar company IASOL, has acquired 100% of the firm. The Zaragoza-based company called the move a shareholder reorganisation that opens a new growth phase in renewables. Financial terms were not disclosed.

What does IASOL do? The group has more than 20 years in developing and executing solar projects, covering design, construction, commissioning, and operation. It also works in self-consumption and energy storage.

Why now? Gimeno has run IASOL as director general for the past eight years and now takes the full share capital. He said the new ownership is meant to ease decision-making and reinforce strategy.

What's the endgame? IASOL plans to strengthen its position in energy storage and push internationalisation. Based in Zaragoza, it runs delegations across the Iberian peninsula, a subsidiary in the Canary Islands, and a company in Rome.

Gimeno said the management structure, technical staff, and existing projects will stay in place. "We don't want to change what we are, but to strengthen it," he said (translated from Spanish).

Against a trend of buyers chasing operational assets, a full change of control at a development and engineering firm is a different bet — though without price or expansion details, its scale remains unclear.
