AtomBeam raises $18.3M via StartEngine, topping $55M total
What's the deal? AtomBeam Technologies has raised $18.3 million in an early-stage round through a Regulation A+ offering hosted on StartEngine. The close brings the Moraga, California company's total funding to more than $55 million.
What does it do? AtomBeam makes Neurpac, software that shrinks machine-generated data and encrypts it in one pass, typically removing 50% to 90% of the data that must move. The company says that multiplies effective bandwidth—often by around 4x—on infrastructure customers already own.
What's the endgame? AtomBeam is also building the Persistent Cognitive Machine (PCM), an AI architecture designed to learn continuously and run on far less power than large language models. "PCM is something genuinely new: an AI that keeps learning after it ships," said chief executive officer Charles Yeomans. The new capital will accelerate Neurpac adoption and move PCM into independent benchmarking and customer pilots.
Why now? The company frames the raise against rising machine-generated data, heavy AI workloads, and a surge in connected devices—pressures straining networks and data centers.
How big is this? The $18.3 million sits around the 95th percentile for early-stage rounds in its sector and geography, based on 745 comparable deals. That ranks it among the larger raises of its kind.
What could go wrong? This is the latest in a sustained, largely crowd-funded financing effort rather than a conventional VC-led round, following a $20 million Reg A+ raise in January 2025 and a roughly $5 million crowdfunding round later that year. AtomBeam remains at an early-revenue stage per its SEC offering materials, and many of its performance and market claims are company-reported. The StartEngine offering carried a $392 million valuation.
The signal: AtomBeam shows how deep-tech startups are tapping retail crowdfunding to scale past the $50 million mark—an alternative to traditional venture capital, though one that leaves investors leaning on company-reported figures.
