Salesforce to buy Braze for $5.66B to power AI marketing push
What's the deal? Salesforce has agreed to acquire customer engagement platform Braze for $5.66 billion in enterprise value, paying Braze Class A shareholders $47.50 in cash per share. The all-cash deal is expected to close during Salesforce's fiscal 2028, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.
What does Braze do? Braze runs a cloud-native, event-streaming platform that processes customer interactions in real time across mobile apps, websites, email, SMS, WhatsApp and other channels. It handles trillions of messages annually and serves roughly 2,770 customers, including Canva, Instacart, Urban OutfittersDealroom has a profile for this one. What's the endgame? Salesforce plans to fold Braze into Marketing Cloud, Data 360, Customer 360 and Agentforce, its AI agent platform. The combination aims to connect CRM records, behavioral signals and AI-driven marketing decisions — letting a retailer, say, spot a browsing customer and send a tailored offer through their preferred channel.
"Combining Braze's real-time engagement capabilities with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, CRM and Data 360 would help companies deliver more personalized customer interactions," said Patrick Stokes, president of applications and marketing at Salesforce.
Why now? The deal extends a buying spree to build the data and automation layers behind Agentforce. Salesforce completed its roughly $8 billion Informatica acquisition in November 2025 and agreed in June 2026 to buy AI-agent platform FinDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → for about $3.6 billion.
What could go wrong? Braze adds marketing execution rather than another general-purpose AI tool, so the payoff hinges on integrating the products and persuading customers to adopt them together. Salesforce said the deal will not change its fiscal 2027 guidance and has not issued fiscal 2028 targets.
The signal: This is a significant bet on tying customer data, AI agents and personalized outreach into a single Salesforce platform. As enterprise software consolidates around AI, the winners may be those that own the full stack — from data to decision to delivery.
