What's the endgame? Rather than survey real people, Vectorial builds a "living model" of target customers that updates to reflect emerging trends. Its platform is powered by a behaviour model called SAPIENS, trained on more than 2.5 million real consumers.
Why now? AI tools now generate code and products faster than ever, but validation lags behind. Co-founder and chief executive Taranveer Singh says most firms still rely on surveys of 50 to 100 people that take weeks to run, and many startups skip research altogether.
The round funds a wider behavioural dataset and a more advanced model, SAPIENS 2.0. Chief product officer Rahul Garg said the company aims to embed simulated audiences directly into development workflows: "a model alone doesn't solve the problem."
What could go wrong? Vectorial reports about 86% accuracy against real-user studies, but those remain company claims. Rival approaches using synthetic agents have struggled because, Singh argues, they lack grounding in real behaviour—a critique that could apply to any simulation.
The signal: Vectorial's modest round lands in a hot category. Simile raised $100 million in February, then $200 million at a $2 billion valuation in July to simulate human behaviour. The round is notable less for its size than for the investor interest it signals—and the open question of whether synthetic audiences can reliably complement research with real consumers.
