What's the endgame? The company replaces traditional broker commissions of 15 to 25 percent with a flat, disclosed 5 percent fee. Delegance says this cuts total insurance costs by 10 to 20 percent on a typical placement while keeping access to the same admitted carriers.
Founder and chief executive officer Alexander Ledbetter built the model after watching a business renew its policy for over a decade while its broker collected a 20 percent commission on largely unchanged coverage. "That commission paid for paperwork, and the paperwork never got faster," he said.
How it works: Businesses upload existing policies or answer a few questions to get quotes across more than 4,000 business classifications and over 36 coverage types. Orin, the company's AI agent, answers coverage questions through portal, email, phone, and chat, while licensed brokers handle complex placements, claims, and coverage decisions.
Delegance is licensed in 51 jurisdictions, holds direct appointments with 25 carriers including Chubb, TravelersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and The Hartford, and has secured more than $26 million in premium commitments for 2026. It plans to use the capital to expand its team of brokers and engineers and deepen partnerships with banks, private equity firms, and software platforms.
What could go wrong? The round is an early-stage entry in a crowded category, and Delegance's promised savings are not yet proven at scale. Its success will hinge on winning customers and delivering comparable coverage while lowering total costs.
The signal: The round sits at the 76th percentile for pre-seed deal size, modest against peers chasing the same shift. CoverwatchDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → raised $4.5 million in July for a flat-fee AI broker, WithCoverage raised $42 million in January for a commission-free model, and Outmarket AI raised $34.5 million to automate brokerage workflows — a sign investors see room to cut costs and rethink commission incentives in commercial insurance.
