Dutch holding Granville buys Belgian breath-freshener maker PaperMints
What's the deal? GranvilleDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the family holding company behind the Dutch Mignot & de Block Group, has agreed to acquire all shares of Belgian breath-freshener maker PaperMints. The parties did not disclose financial terms. PaperMints will keep its brand, positioning, and current management team.
What does PaperMints do? The Belgian company has sold sugar-free breath fresheners for more than twenty years, including CoolCaps capsules and Breath Strips. Its products reach more than 70 countries through distributors, with most of the range manufactured in Japan.
What's the endgame? Granville wants to accelerate PaperMints' international growth and give it more commercial clout. The companies will first strengthen the brand's position in the Benelux, then target new markets and channels, including retail, specialised distribution, hospitality, and e-commerce.
Why now? Mignot & de Block has handled PaperMints' Benelux distribution since October, taking over immediately as part of the deal.
The signal: Mignot & de Block, founded in 1858 and one of the oldest family-owned businesses in the Netherlands, is best known for the Mascotte brand and makes products such as tissue paper and filters. With PaperMints, the group moves into a new consumer category.
