Who's involved? Media Press supplies verified TV, streaming, sports, and editorial metadata to telecom operators, broadcasters, streaming platforms, and publishers. AKPA is one of Poland's most established media services firms, bringing a journalistic team, editorial services, and a leading photographic agency.
What's the endgame? AKPA extends Media Press beyond metadata into journalism, photography, and publishing services. Its brand, team, photographic resources, and customer relationships will be retained and developed, the company said.
Why now? The deal is Media Press's fifth strategic transaction since September 2025, following acquisitions of MediaData TV in Spain and Latin America, TVControl in Greece, Impresa's EPG business in Portugal, and a strategic investment in Italy's DataTV.
What changes for customers? AKPA and its clients gain access to Media Press products including MP API and Open ID, which map content identifiers across producers, distributors, and operators. The capabilities will be integrated through common platforms and standardised European data structures.
"AKPA brings outstanding journalistic, editorial and photographic expertise to the Group, while preserving the local knowledge and customer relationships that have made it successful in Poland," said Magdalena Cechnicka, chief executive officer of Media Press Group.
The signal: Media Press is consolidating Europe's fragmented metadata market one country at a time, pairing local editorial teams with shared technology. The AKPA deal signals a push to bundle content and visual services alongside data as operators look for single partners across markets.
