Focus Prism buys FoodExo in ~$15.8M deal, backed by fresh OAKS funding

What's the deal? Coimbatore-based food services platform Focus Prism has acquired Chennai corporate caterer FoodExoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Chennai Pvt. Ltd in a cash-and-stock deal worth about US$20.4M (roughly $15.8 million). The purchase was financed largely by a US$19.7M raise from OAKS Asset ManagementDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which took a significant minority stake in Focus Prism.

What each side brings: FoodExo, founded in 2011 and led by Ganesh Panchanathan, grew from 60 employees serving 1,000 people to more than 2,000 staff serving 150,000 meals a day by 2025. Panchanathan joins Focus Prism as head of operations for the south.

Why now? Focus Prism is pursuing a buy-and-build strategy, targeting US$95.1M in revenue this fiscal year through consolidation. It plans to acquire and integrate regional, family-run operators onto a shared management, technology, and procurement framework.

What's the endgame? OAKS backs businesses that can compound through scale rather than repeated fundraising. "What attracted us here was the combination of a highly fragmented industry, an experienced founder, and a technology and process platform," said Vivek Anand, managing director and founder of OAKS.

What could go wrong? As a smaller platform, Focus Prism's challenge is integrating acquired operators and turning scale into profitable growth. Its model mirrors global players like SodexoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Compass GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, which built platforms over decades through acquisitions and integration.

The signal: India's institutional food services market is over US$8.15B, yet the top three players control just 11%, leaving room to consolidate. The deal follows recent moves including Bluspring's April 2026 agreement to buy LSG Sky Chefs' Bengaluru operations for about US$17.5M and Sodexo's reported talks to acquire Shashi Catering, signaling a race for scale in a fragmented sector.
