Dutch fund 819 Capital Partners buys CamperDays, installs new CEO
What's the deal? Dutch private equity fund 819 Capital PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired CamperDays, the Cologne-based campervan rental platform, and named Maximilian Schmidt as its new chief executive officer and sole managing director, effective immediately. He replaces Raphael Meese. The price was not disclosed.
What does CamperDays do? Founded in 2013, the company is an online broker that connects travellers with rental partners, offering access to more than 40,000 vehicles across over 1,000 locations in more than 35 countries. It employs over 50 people and runs a second operational site in Alicante, Spain.
Why now? The deal follows a growth spurt: revenue rose an average of 21% a year between 2022 and 2025, and 2025 bookings nearly doubled pre-pandemic 2019 levels.
What changes? According to CamperDays, the acquisition will not affect day-to-day operations. "Our commitment is to maintain continuity of daily operations while taking advantage of new opportunities to progressively improve our offering and services," Schmidt said (translated from Spanish).
What's the endgame? CamperDays and 819 Capital Partners say they aim to consolidate the company's trajectory and strengthen its position in the international market. The platform fits the fund's travel expansion strategy, which already includes operators such as TravelhomeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Chalet.nlDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.
The signal: Consolidation is picking up in campervan rentals — Indie Campers bought British brands Just Go and Bunk CampersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → in 2026 — and this deal reads as a growth and positioning bet rather than a near-term operational shake-up.
