HFCL raises $58M to fund fibre and data-centre expansion

What's the deal? Himachal Futuristic Communications (HFCL)Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → raised roughly US$74.7M through a qualified institutions placement, issuing 8,79,29,651 equity shares at US$0.85 each — a 5% discount to the floor price. It separately approved US$75.4M of promoter-group warrants at US$1 each, of which only 25% is paid upfront.

What's the endgame? HFCL makes optical-fibre cables, telecom equipment, and defence electronics, and holds an estimated 45–50% share of India's optical-fibre cable market. The money funds a manufacturing and technology expansion as it chases rising fibre and data-infrastructure demand.

Why now? Business is accelerating. In Q1 FY27, revenue rose 120% year over year, and the company's order book reached a record US$3.62B — roughly five times FY26 revenue.

What's the catch? This is growth financing, not a fully funded US$150.1M cash raise. By June 2026, HFCL had received just US$18.8M from the warrants — the balance is due only on conversion — and the promoter warrants add potential dilution. CARE Ratings, the appointed monitoring agency, reported no deviation from the stated purposes.

The signal: The raise sits in the top 1% by size among post-IPO equity rounds in Indian telecom over the past four years, a sample of 172. The story now is execution: whether HFCL can convert a record order pipeline into revenue while scaling capacity.
