Qiming backs RISC-V chipmaker Jindie Space-Time in Series B extension

What's the deal? Qiming Venture Partners has joined a Series B extension round for Jindie Space-Time, a Chinese developer of RISC-V architecture AI chips, according to corporate filings disclosed in October 2026. Other new backers include Guoxiang Capital, Shangqi Capital, Woan Robotics, C&D Emerging Investment, Biyi Co.Dealroom has a profile for this one. What's the company? Founded in November 2021 and based in Hangzhou, Jindie Space-Time designs terminal and cloud AI CPU chips built on the open-source RISC-V instruction set. It develops its core technology in-house, spanning RISC-V CPU cores, AI cores, interconnect buses, and software systems.

What's the endgame? The company wants to push RISC-V from embedded and edge uses into higher-performance markets such as AI computers, robotics, and cloud servers. Its first terminal AI CPU chip, the K1, shipped 150,000 units, and a second-generation chip, the K3, is set to launch.

Why now? The round follows earlier raises — a Series A worth several hundred million yuan in 2023 and a Series A+ of similar size in 2024 — both directed at product development and market expansion. The amount and terms of the latest investment have not been disclosed.

What could go wrong? With only a shareholder change on record, the deal says little about the company's commercial progress. It remains unclear whether the new investors will help Jindie Space-Time bring products to market and scale revenue.

The signal: RISC-V startups are testing whether the open-source architecture can compete beyond low-power niches against established designs like x86 and Arm. Continued investor interest in the sector suggests the thesis is gaining traction, even as individual bets stay hard to assess.
